carpet styles & construction
The key to a great carpet starts with fibre. Every STAINMASTER® carpet is made using strong, resilient nylon fibre. Its unique molecular structure creates carpet with exceptional durability. One that looks extraordinary even in the highest traffic areas.

fibre, twist & density
The durability of your carpet depends on finding the right balance of three factors: fibre, twist and density.
To make a carpet, natural or synthetic fibre is converted to yarn and tufted, or locked into a backing to form the pile or surface you walk on. The five major types of carpet fibre are nylon (conventionally dyed), solution dyed nylon, polypropylene (olefin), polyester and wool. STAINMASTER® carpet uses only the durable nylon (conventionally dyed) and solution dyed nylon.
The twist of the carpet describes the winding of the yarn on itself. The tighter the twist, the more the carpet will resist changes in appearance and texture.
Density is the amount of pile in the carpet and how close the tufts are to one another. In general, the more dense the carpet, the better the quality. Check density by pressing your fingers on the carpet and trying to reach the backing. You can also bend the carpet into a “U” shape to see how much backing shows. The less you see, the more dense the carpet.
From loop to twist and everything in between, we have a wide selection of styles.
