Warranties

Full Warranty Information

These warranties require compliance with INVISTA recommended carpet care and cleaning procedures and may be void if not followed (see section titled "Carpet Care").

Topical treatments (including many fungicides, bactericides, biocides, anti-statics, stain resists, and some cleaning solutions, etc) may adversely affect the soil resistance, stain resistance and/or other benefits of your carpet.

These warranties exclude any claim or liability for defects and damages to your carpet caused by such topical treatments or cleaning solutions. However, topical soil-resistant fluorochemical treatments, which do not adversely affect the carpet, are acceptable after professional cleaning.

Limited stain resistance warranty

INVISTA warrants for a full seven years after installation that the surface pile of your carpet will resist stains by foods and beverages (except as noted below) with the use of INVISTA recommended carpet care and cleaning procedures (see section titled "Carpet Care'). INVISTA will repair or replace if repair cannot be made, any area of the carpet that does not perform as warranted.

No carpet is fully stainproof. Therefore, this warranty excludes stains from: 1. Non-food and non-beverage substances; 2. Such foods and beverages that contain strongly coloured natural substantive dyes as found, for example, in mustard, curry, soy sauce and herbal tea; 3. Substances which destroy or change the colour of carpets such as bleaches, acne medications, drain cleaners, plant food; 4. Vomit, urine and faeces; 5. Fading due to light and certain gases. 6. Extremely hot liquids. To qualify for coverage under this warranty, you must have tried cleaning the affected area of your carpet by using the recommended cleaning procedures (see section titled "Carpet Care').

If the affected area remains unsatisfactory after you have tried these cleaning procedures, then you must have the affected area of your carpet professionally cleaned. If the affected area still remains unsatisfactory after the professional cleaning, you must contact INVISTA and provide INVISTA with proof of the professional cleaning within 30 days of the professional carpet cleaning.*

The best form of professional carpet cleaning is hot water extraction. When performed according to AS/NZS 3733:1995 this procedure remains our primary recommendation for Stainmaster® Carpet. For best results, and to ensure that you do not invalidate your warranty, the guidelines in this booklet should be observed by your carpet care professional. INVISTA only recommends accredited and professional steam cleaners. We can recommend a cleaner in your area when you call the Stainmaster® Service Centre on 1800 335 624 (Australia) or 0800 468 420 (New Zealand). Note that there can be some slight loss of stain resistance in high-traffic areas such as stairs. This warranty excludes any residual stains that may occur in those areas.
* An invoice or other documentation signed by the vendor is required.

Limited soil resistance warranty.

Over time, any carpet may change colour due to the accumulation of dry soil from foot traffic. Following the INVISTA recommended carpet care and cleaning instructions, (see section titled "Carpet Care') is essential to minimise colour change from dry soil. If, after following the carpet care procedures including professional cleaning, your carpet still shows a noticeable colour change due to deposits of soil as a result of foot traffic from normal, indoor household use, which cannot be corrected; INVISTA will for a full 7 years after installation, repair or replace the affected area. Noticeable colour change is defined as a change greater than 3 using standardised rating scales (American Association of Textile Chemists and Colourists (AATCC) Grey Scales Evaluation Procedure 1 or equivalent). To qualify for coverage under this warranty, you must have tried cleaning the affected area of your carpet by using the cleaning procedures (see section titled "Carpet Care').

If the affected area remains unsatisfactory after you have tried these cleaning procedures, then you must have the affected area of your carpet professionally cleaned. If the affected area still remains unsatisfactory after the professional cleaning, you must contact INVISTA and provide INVISTA with proof of the professional cleaning within 30 days of the professional carpet cleaning.* This warranty is limited to colour changes due to deposits of dry soil as a result of foot traffic from normal, indoor household use which cannot be corrected. Specifically excluded are: colour changes from grease, asphalt, tar, paints, ink, rust, blood, cement, materials that permanently destroy dyes or alter colours, such as bleaches, acne medications, drain cleaners and plant food, urine, faeces, vomit, appearance or colour changes on stairs due to burns, pets' tears, cuts, pulls, shading, furniture depressions or athletic equipment.
* An invoice or other documentation signed by the vendor is required.

Limited abrasive wear warranty.

INVISTA warrants for a full ten years after installation in an owner-occupied domestic residence, that your carpet will not lose more than 10% of its surface fibre due to abrasive wear excluding stairs. INVISTA will repair or replace if repair cannot be made, any area of the carpet that does not perform as warranted. This warranty covers only abrasive wear resulting in loss of fibre from the pile surface. Wear or damage from tears, pulls, cuts, pilling, shedding, matting, crushing, shading, burns, pets, improper cleaning, improper installation or defective construction is specifically excluded.

Limited life-of-carpet anti-static warranty.

INVISTA warrants, for the life of the carpet, that Stainmaster® Carpet will not generate static greater than 5.0 kilovolts (using American Association of Textile Chemists and Colourists (AATCC) 134-79). Most people are unaffected by static of that degree. INVISTA will repair, or replace if repair cannot be made any area of the carpet that does not perform as warranted.

Only first quality carpet (not seconds or irregulars) which meets INVISTA construction and performance specifications can earn the name Stainmaster® Carpet and be covered under these warranties.

These warranties apply to carpet purchased after 1 March 2004 to an original individual purchaser of a carpet for his or her own personal use in a private residence.

These warranties do not apply to rugs.

These warranties exclude carpet which has been put to commercial use, abnormal use or conditions, or abused in any way. "Commercial use" includes, but is not limited to, use in a store, office or other place of business. "Abnormal use or conditions" includes, but is not limited to, water damage from plumbing, storm or flood, damage from smoke or fire, damage from improper cleaning methods or materials and from improper maintenance. Any repair or replacement under these warranties will be made by INVISTA and will be limited to the affected area of the carpet. If replacement is necessary, INVISTA will pay only for removal of the old carpet and the cost and installation of the new carpet, unless otherwise specified by a specific warranty. If the identical carpet is not available, INVISTA will provide carpet of comparable quality, colour and value.

To qualify for repair or replacement, the consumer must provide the original sales receipt or other documentation acceptable to INVISTA which demonstrates proof of purchase of Stainmaster® Carpet. It is recommended that the consumer also retain an original piece of carpet (A4 size), unused and unlaid, to assist with this process.

The consumer shall reasonably co-operate with INVISTA in its efforts to perform its obligations under these warranties. These warranties give the consumer specific legal rights. Consumers may have other legal rights which vary from state to state and between Australia and New Zealand.

These warranties apply only to carpet installed in Australia and New Zealand.

Any queries relating to colour fastness, appearance retention and shading must be referred to the carpet manufacturer.
