How to make your home pet friendly

It’s time to make your home pet friendly because after all, they’re part of the family. Make your home as comfy for your fury friend as possible, from accessories to flooring.

Easy Access

The sanctuary starts with an easy way in and out. Once you’ve house trained your pet, a door flap is essential. This way they can come and go as they please. If you prefer to keep access to the rest of the home limited when you’re away, consider access to a pet only room.

Time Out Zone

Designated areas for pets are perfect when pet-shy friends or family pop by. Include a play area, pet accessories, litter box and storage for pet gear. Think sturdy yet snuggly bedding, a monogramed water bowl and fun toys. If you’re after something luxe for your little King (or Queen), install a pet-washing station and make bath time regular. Don’t forget the treats!

Squeaky Clean

Who hates cleaning up accidents? We do. Wash all bedding and linens in a simple mix of a laundry detergent and a quarter cup of apple cider vinegar. For accidents on flooring, use a cleaning agent straight away to discourage pets from revisiting that same spot!

Functional Flooring

Is your flooring scratched, smelly or damaged? It might be time to invest in STAINMASTER™ PetProtect™ hybrid flooring. It’s scratch proof, water and odour resistant. The matte surface of each plank mimics hardwood and is incredibly easy to clean, making it the perfect mix of liveable and functional. Choose from three Oak and Australian Species styles or mix and match flooring from room to room, depending on your interiors. To install, check out our installation guide. Pro tip: Bigger planks mean fewer seams (and more seamless) flooring.
